Learning outcomes: - To know the structure of automobile engines, general concepts of thermodynamic cycles of internal combustion engines, the concept of working processes, the differences between actual and thermodynamic cycles. - To be able to perform thermal calculation of the car engine and determine its basic parameters. - Analyze the forces and moments acting in the crank mechanism. - To be able to choose the kinematic scheme of the engine and analyze its balance. - To be able to perform the calculation of the basic elements of the gas distribution mechanism. - To have an idea of the modes of operation of the engine and its main characteristics. - Knowledge of car structure, power units, electronic and electrical equipment. - Knowledge and skills in implementing new technologies to perform a set of works on car maintenance and repair.

Summary of the subject: The valid cycles of automobile engines. Processes of the valid cycles. Effective parameters of work of the engine and his(its) thermal balance. Thermal account of the engine. Dynamic account of the engine. Account of the valvetrain mechanism of the engine.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Oral interrogation, control work (30 %) • Final control (60 %, control measure, 10% of the oral component): exam (70 %)
