Мета вивчення дисципліни: To form theoretical knowledge and practical skills regarding the design, calculation and selection of the necessary packaging equipment based on the analysis of the condition of the packaging product and the properties of the packaging material or packaging.

Special (professional, subject) competences: the ability to analyze materials, structures and processes based on the laws, theories and methods of mathematics, natural sciences and applied mechanics. The ability to evaluate the performance parameters of materials, structures and machines in operational conditions and find appropriate solutions to ensure a given level of reliability of structures and processes, including in the presence of some uncertainty. The ability to conduct a technological and technical-economic evaluation of the effectiveness of the use of new technologies and technical means. The ability to make the optimal choice of technological equipment, complete set of technical complexes, have a basic understanding of the rules of their operation. The ability to use analytical, statistical and numerical mathematical methods to solve problems of applied mechanics, in particular to perform calculations on strength, endurance, stability, durability, stiffness in the process of static and dynamic loading in order to assess the reliability and forecast the resource of parts and structures of machines. Ability to use computer aided design (CAD), manufacturing (CAM), engineering research (CAE) and specialized application software to solve engineering problems in applied mechanics. Ability to think spatially and reproduce spatial objects, structures and mechanisms in the form of projection drawings and three-dimensional geometric models. The ability to present the results of one's engineering activities in compliance with generally accepted norms and standards. The ability to describe and classify a wide range of technical objects and processes, based on a deep knowledge and understanding of basic mechanical theories and practices, as well as basic knowledge of related sciences. Professional competences of a professional direction (professional line "Packaging machines and technologies"): the ability to design and develop parts, mechanisms, components of packaging and auxiliary equipment, simple (typical) automatic machines and elements of automated packaging lines with appropriate calculations and simulations on a personal computer; the ability to use existing and the ability to develop new means of automating production processes of packaging and their management systems; the ability to design simple non-standard packaging and auxiliary equipment for automated product packaging lines using electromechanical drives, hydropneumatic automation, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic drives; the ability to perform technical and organizational support (technological production preparation) for the manufacture of mechanisms and components of the main and auxiliary equipment of packaging machinery; the ability to develop typical technological processes of packaging various products with different levels of automation; the ability to choose packaging materials, containers and auxiliary packaging materials based on the properties of the packaging product; the ability to install and put into operation, to control the functioning, technical and organizational support of work on diagnostics and servicing of packaging equipment; the ability to conduct experimental research in laboratory and production conditions; the ability to perform technological preparation and support of the production process of packaging various products.
Learning outcomes: Choose and apply suitable mathematical methods for solving problems of applied mechanics. Use knowledge of the theoretical foundations of mechanics of solids, liquids and gases, heat engineering, electronics and electrical engineering to solve professional tasks. Perform calculations on the strength, durability, stability, durability, rigidity of machine parts. Perform geometric modeling of details, mechanisms and structures in the form of spatial models and projection images; to draw up the results in the form of technical and working drawings. Ways of placing artificial products in containers. Layout of depositing machines. Equipment for group packaging of products in the form of a parallelepiped. Equipment for group packing of cylindrical products. Executive bodies of depositing machines. Vacuum exciting devices, classification. Design features of vacuum capturing devices and their calculation. Equipment for group packaging of products with a complex geometric shape and in soft consumer packaging. Devices for forming, positioning and orientation of transport containers. Equipment for closing and wrapping transport containers. Equipment for group packaging of products in wrapping paper. Packing artificial cargo in shrink film. Automatic devices for forming cargo units and wrapping them in shrink film. Structure and principles of operation of the thermal tunnel for packing artificial cargo in shrink film. Typical variants of machines for packaging goods in shrink film. Package forming machines. General information and classification. Formation of transport packages from consumer packaging, container and artificial cargo. Features of the formation of packages without pallets.
Assessment methods and criteria: 1. Survey and control of the results of practical works. It is conducted orally through a survey on the topic and the main results obtained in the course of the work. 2. Examination based on the results of studying the discipline. The written component consists of theoretical and practical tasks and is conducted in a test form in the Virtual Initial Environment. The oral component is conducted based on the results of the written component for a more thorough assessment of knowledge.
