Characteristics of the educational program: The program curriculum includes on-campus classes (lectures, seminars, laboratory classes and practical classes) and independent studies. Training under the educational program is based on widely known principles and results of modern research in the fields of electrical engineering, electromechanics, automatic control theory, and industrial electronics; it focuses on up-to-date specializations that will provide their holders with ample opportunities for further professional and academic career. As a result of successful completion of the educational program, students receive fundamental training in their major as well as in computer technology, programming and application of software packages for computer-aided design and simulation of electrical systems. An important component of the training program is the study of the principles of generation, distribution and efficient consumption of electrical power, introduction to modern energy-saving technologies and equipment. During their training, students get acquainted with the latest achievements in the field of electrical engineering and electromechanics, semiconductor and microprocessor technology. They acquire deep modern knowledge in the field of diagnostics and management of electrical engineering systems and robotic systems based on software and hardware. Bachelors majoring in the specialty are able to design, explore, exploit and maintain systems for generation and transmission of electrical power, electromechanical systems of industrial machinery, automated aggregates for electrical engineering systems, and control systems for electric transport.
Gained competence: - To know and understand the principles of operation of electrical systems and networks, power equipment of power plants and substations, protective earthing and lightning protection devices, and to be able to apply them to solve practical problems in professional activities. - To know and understand the theoretical foundations of metrology and electrical measurements, the principles of operation of automatic control devices, relay protection and automation systems, and to possess the skills to carry out relevant measurements and use these devices to solve professional tasks. - To know the principles of operation of electrical machines, apparatus, and automated electric drives, and to be able to apply them to solve practical problems in professional activities. -To know the principles of operation of bioenergy, wind energy, hydroenergy, and solar energy installations. -To know the fundamentals of electromagnetic field theory, methods for calculating electrical circuits, and to be able to apply them to solve practical problems in professional activities.
– To apply application software, microcontrollers, and microprocessor technology to solve practical problems in professional activities. – To analyse processes in power engineering, electrical, and electromechanical equipment, as well as the corresponding systems and complexes. – To select and apply appropriate methods for the analysis and synthesis of electromechanical and power engineering systems with specified parameters. – To be able to evaluate the energy efficiency and reliability of power engineering, electrical, and electromechanical systems. – To find necessary information in scientific and technical literature, databases, and other sources, and to assess its relevance and reliability. – To communicate fluently on professional issues in both the national and a foreign language, orally and in writing; to discuss professional outcomes with specialists and non-specialists, and to justify one's position in debates. – To understand the basic principles and objectives of technical and environmental safety at electrical and electromechanical facilities and to consider them when making decisions. – To understand the significance of both traditional and renewable energy sources for the successful economic development of the country. – To understand the principles of European democracy and respect for citizens' rights, and to take them into account when making decisions. – To understand and demonstrate good professional, social, and emotional conduct, and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. – To be aware of the requirements of regulatory acts related to engineering practice, intellectual property protection, occupational health, safety techniques, and industrial hygiene, and to consider them when making decisions. – To solve complex specialised tasks in the design and maintenance of electromechanical systems, electrical equipment of power plants, substations, systems, and networks. – To be able to study independently, acquire new knowledge, and improve skills in working with modern equipment, measuring technology, and application software. – To apply suitable empirical and theoretical methods to reduce power losses during the generation, transmission, distribution, and use of electrical energy.
– The ability to communicate, including oral and written communication in Ukrainian and in one of the foreign languages (English, German, Italian, French, Spanish). – The ability to use various methods, including information technologies, for effective communication at professional and social levels.
