Learning outcomes: To know • general principles of the master plan layout of power plants of various types; • principles of designing of electrical subsystem of power plants; • bases of designing block diagrams of electrical connections of power plants;; • structure of switchgears of power plants; • bases of designing auxiliaries electrical installations of power plants and substations; • bases of designing DC electrical installations of power plants and substations. To be able to: • make choice for the optimal option of the block diagram of a power plant; • calculate short-circuit currents; • choose switching equipment, measuring transformers and conductive parts; • design switchgear diagrams of a power plant; • design a power plant auxiliary system; • design an operating current system of a power plant.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: • Theoretical Fundamentals of Electrotechnics • Electric Installations of Power Plants and Substations. • Fundamentals of Electric Part Design of Power Stations and Substations.
Summary of the subject: Selection of main equipment of power plants. Parameters of the main equipment of power plants and substations. Designing block diagrams of power plants. Designing of switchgears circuits. Calculation of short-circuit currents. Selection of electrical devices and conductive parts. Designing of auxiliaries electrical installations of power plants and substations Designing of operating current system of power plants.
Assessment methods and criteria: • course project control schedule (20%); • final control (80% control measure, exam), written-oral form (80%).
