Learning outcomes: • the ability to use and introduce the new technologies in alternating current electric drive area, to participate in modernization and reconstruction of the alternating current electric drive systems, in particular with the aim of increase of their power efficiency; • the ability to use the knowledge and skills for a calculation, research, choice, introduction, repair, and design of alternating current electric drives; • the ability to apply the professionally-profiled knowledge and practical skills for the solving of typical tasks in alternating current electric drive area.
Required prior and related subjects: • Power electronics and converter engineering. • Theory of electric drive.
Summary of the subject: Alternating current electrical machine as a controlled object. Systems of frequency control of induction motors. The electric drive systems with a synchronous motor. The frequency control of synchronous motor. Transformation of a. c. machine's coordinates. Vector control of induction electric drive. Modern state and tendency of evolution of industrial alternating current electric drive. Features of power and control circles of frequency converter. Devices for soft start of induction motors. Problems of application of modern alternating current electric drives.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on laboratory works, oral questioning,term project (20%) • final control (control measure - exam): written and oral form (80%)
