Learning outcomes: To know • characteristics of mechanisms of auxiliaries; • methods of efficiency control of mechanisms of auxiliaries; • basic schematics of auxiliary systems of power plants of various types; • measures to improve the reliability of the auxiliary system; • features of modes of auxiliary systems. To be able to: • analyze the impact of changes in rotating speed and voltage on the characteristics of the working mechanisms of auxiliaries; • calculate short-circuit in the auxiliary system; • choose switching equipment in the auxiliary system; • analyze of triggering mode and self-starting mode of electric motors of mechanisms of auxiliaries; • choose equipment of DC installations.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: • Electric machines • Electric Installations of Power Plants and Substations • Electromagnetic transients.
Summary of the subject: Auxiliaries power sources. Working machines of power plant auxiliaries and their characteristics. Working machines with mechanical characteristics independent from the rotating speed. Efficiency control of machines of power plant auxiliaries. Throttle efficiency control. Efficiency control of machines by changing the rotating speed. The main types of working machines and their drives. Self-starting of electric motors of auxiliaries. Power supply circuit of power plant auxiliaries. Requirements to power supply circuits. Determination of rated power of working transformers of auxiliaries. Electric power supply circuits of auxiliaries system of power plants of various types.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on labs, oral examination, settlement and graphic work (30%) • final control (70% control measure, exam): written-oral form (70%)
