Learning outcomes: • know the principle and construction, physical phenomenon that take a place in specific modes, and their main characteristics of electric machines and transformers specific types; • be able to analyze and describe the steady state and transient processes in them.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: • Theoretical Foundations of Electrical Engineering chapter 1 and 2; • Further mathematic chapter 1 and 2; • Electric machines; • Physics chapter 1 and 2
Summary of the subject: The main links between the technical and economic characteristics of electrical machines. The complex and mixed rotor’s winding of DC machines. Leveling a combination of rotor windings of DC machines. Features of armature reaction in the DC generator and motor. Switching features of DC machines and basic ways of its improvement. Self-induction EMF and external field EMF. Unipolar DC machine. Magneto hydro-dynamic DC machine. Features of no-load operation in three-phase transformers. The work of three-phase transformers with asymmetrical load. Transients when switched and short circuit transformers. Three-winding transformers. Tooth-harmonics in AC machines. Options AC machines in steady state and their experimental determination. The impact of higher space harmonics of MMF on electromagnetic torque of induction motor. Multistage schemes of speed control in induction motor. Frequency speed regulation of induction motors. Induction machine in generator mode. Dual power induction machine.
