Learning outcomes: Integral competence (INT): the ability to solve practical problems in the process of learning and during professional activities in the field of law and to apply legal theories and methods based on current national legislation. General competencies (GC): GC 2. Ability to apply knowledge in practical situations; GC 3. Knowledge and understanding of the subject area and understanding of professional activity. Special competencies (SC): SC 13. Ability to critically and systematically analyze legal phenomena and apply the acquired knowledge in professional activities; SC 16. Ability to logical, critical and systematic analysis of documents, understanding their legal nature and meaning. Program learning outcomes (LО): LО 2. Analyze social processes in the context of the analyzed problem and demonstrate your own vision of ways to solve it; LО 4. Formulate your own sound judgments based on an analysis of a known problem; LО 5. Give a brief conclusion on certain factual circumstances (data) with sufficient justification; LО 17. Apply the acquired knowledge in different legal situations, highlight legally significant facts and form sound legal conclusions; LО 18. Prepare drafts of necessary acts of application of law in accordance with the legal conclusion made in different legal situations; LО 19. Provide advice on possible ways to protect the rights and interests of clients in different legal situations.
Required prior and related subjects: The previous subjects: History of the state and law of Ukraine, Theory of state and law. Related and following disciplines: Philosophy of law; Sociology of law.
Summary of the subject: Logic as a science and academic discipline. Thought and language. Logical analysis concepts in law. Proposition: general characteristics. The basic laws of logic. Inference. Deductive reasoning and non-deductive. The basic theory of argumentation. The concept of proof (proof) in logic and law. Structure and methods of proof. Rebuttal and its role in legal activity. General characteristics of hypotheses. Logical rules and errors in proof and refutation. Paralogisms, sophisms and logical paradoxes and their role in the theory of argumentation.
Assessment methods and criteria: Methods of diagnostics of knowledge in the study of the discipline are: oral examination in practical (seminars); performance of an individual research task; control work. Assessment of student learning outcomes is based on the results of the current control in accordance with the 100-point assessment scale established at the University. The assessment criteria are developed according to a four-point system ("excellent", "good", "satisfactory", "unsatisfactory") taking into account the completeness and correctness of the tasks and the mandatory transfer of grades to the University's 100-point scale for evaluating students' knowledge.
